Our Name
The meaning behind the name pono
The morning light.

But when we look back,
what stays with us most
is always the simple time
spent at the place we stayed.

In those moments,
we feel it —
happiness.
And something deeper
quietly takes root between us.
pono is a Hawaiian word
that means "harmony."
Being in nature
with the people who matter most to you.

Our Host
The Person Behind pono
Yuki Kondo
Founder & HostLifestyle Entrepreneur
After working in sales at Keyence,
he went on to craft bespoke weddings,
then moved through fintech,
hospitality,
and e-commerce.
Across all those industries,
one thing became clear —
family time is what matters most.
In late 2024,
he founded pono in Okinawa's Yanbaru region.
pono 118 is a 90-year-old Ryukyuan farmhouse
he personally renovated,
preserving its original timber and atmosphere.
pono 02 is an ocean-view villa
where the sea and sky
become part of your living room.
Both were born from a single desire:
to create places
where families can simply be together.
He travels with his wife and son
over 50 days a year,
while personally managing both properties.
From the BBQ setup in the garden
to the local restaurant guide —
not luxury,
but something that feels like
an extension of everyday life,
yet unmistakably special.
His hope is to create moments like that
for every guest and their family.

pono 118 and pono 02 are located in Yanbaru, northern Okinawa. Approximately 1 hour 50 minutes by car from Naha Airport to pono 118, and about 2 hours to pono 02. Conveniently located near popular attractions such as Churaumi Aquarium and Kouri Island.
